Falkirk produced the shock of the Scottish Premiership weekend on Sunday, beating leaders Celtic 2-0 at Falkirk Stadium for their first victory over the Glasgow club since 2007. Ethan Ross struck inside three minutes, pouncing after a mistake from returning Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, and left-back Scott Tanser doubled the lead in the 38th minute after bursting through the middle of the Celtic defence. From there the story became goalkeeper Scott Bain, the former Celtic keeper, who denied the visitors time and again as Celtic fired 24 shots at goal without scoring. Despite dominating possession and building an expected-goals figure of 2.8, Celtic could not find a way through, and manager Martin O'Neill afterwards lamented his side's wastefulness in front of goal. The defeat was Celtic's sixth in ten matches in all competitions and their second league loss of the season, and it cost them the chance to move seven points clear at the top, with Rangers in cup action. Celtic stay four points clear having played a game more. For Falkirk, it was a fourth successive win, lifting John McGlynn's side up to fourth in the table, and a result that will live long in the club's memory.
