Auger-Aliassime Survives Three-Hour Shanghai Scare to Reach Third Round
Fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime needed two hours 58 minutes to fend off Camilo Ugo Carabelli 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5 in the Shanghai Masters second round on Saturday.

Fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime survived a major scare at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Saturday, battling past Argentina's Camilo Ugo Carabelli 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5 in a second-round clash that lasted two hours 58 minutes.
The Canadian dropped the opening set and had to dig deep in a second-set tiebreak, which he dominated 7-1, before finally closing out the decider on Stadium Court. He fired 42 winners including 14 aces — but also racked up 42 unforced errors — and outpointed the world No. 77 by just 118 points to 101.
It was the standout survival act of a busy Saturday in Shanghai. Taylor Fritz dispatched Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-4, and defending champion Valentin Vacherot beat Sebastian Baez 6-4, 7-6(5). For Auger-Aliassime, a third-round meeting with Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta awaits, and the fourth seed will know he must sharpen up quickly if his title bid is to survive deeper into the week.
