Atkinson Snubs Leicester to Sign New Gloucester Deal Until 2029

Gloucester have won their tug-of-war with Leicester Tigers and persuaded England international Seb Atkinson to sign a new deal at Kingsholm. The 24-year-old centre, who has won seven England caps and was named the club's Player of the Year in both 2024 and 2026, will stay with the Gallagher PREM champions until 2029. Leicester had wanted the former Worcester Warriors ace to solve a problem area at inside centre next season, but Atkinson chose to remain with the club where he has become a central figure. Head coach George Skivington called it a significant moment, saying Atkinson had plenty of options on the table and that his commitment was a real indication of where Gloucester are right now. "He's the ultimate professional and a fantastic role model for any young rugby player," Skivington said. Atkinson, who earned his first senior England cap against Argentina in 2025, has been named in Steve Borthwick's squad for the forthcoming Nations Championship campaign, and his new deal removes any doubt about his club future heading into that international window.
