Apple TV Brings Dolby Atmos to Formula 1 Broadcasts Starting at the US Grand Prix
Apple will add Dolby Atmos audio to its live Formula 1 coverage on Apple TV beginning with the United States Grand Prix weekend at Austin on October 23.

Apple is upgrading the way American fans hear Formula 1. The tech giant announced a new partnership with Dolby Laboratories that brings Dolby Atmos to its live F1 broadcasts on Apple TV, with the immersive audio format debuting during the United States Grand Prix weekend at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, starting October 23. The spatial audio upgrade sits alongside the Dolby Vision picture Apple already delivers, with the company promising viewers will feel surrounded by the sport's defining sounds — from team radio chatter and race commentary to engine roar, on-track battles and pit-lane intensity. Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and international content, said the partnership is part of a continuing push to make Apple TV's F1 coverage better for fans, calling the sound of Formula 1 a vital part of what makes the sport so exciting. Apple's Formula 1 rights cover the United States and come included with a standard Apple TV subscription, with no extra sports add-on required. The company has been expanding its racing presence aggressively in its first season holding the rights, a five-year deal secured in 2025: it streamed the Bahrain Grand Prix free in the U.S., is bringing the eighth season of Netflix's Drive to Survive to Apple TV stateside, and simulcast the Canadian Grand Prix live across both Apple TV and Netflix. Executives have signaled ambitions to grow the coverage into additional markets beyond America, and the Dolby deal marks the next step in that build-out.
