49ers Still Hunting Receiver Help After Buckner Blockbuster

The San Francisco 49ers are not done dealing. According to Jonathan Jones of The Athletic, reported by Bleacher Report on Saturday, the 6-1 Niners are still 'sniffing around' for wide receiver help even after completing a blockbuster bye-week trade for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts for a fourth-round pick. Injuries have ravaged San Francisco's receiving corps. Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling are all on injured reserve, while Deebo Samuel has missed two games with a hamstring injury and Mike Evans sat out last week's loss at Atlanta with rib and Achilles problems. That has left a threadbare group behind quarterback Brock Purdy. Among the names mentioned as possible targets are Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr., Indianapolis' Josh Downs, Cleveland's Jerry Jeudy and others, though the Jaguars are said to be firm on keeping Thomas. With the trade deadline set for November 10 and a Week 9 return date for several injured receivers, general manager John Lynch must decide whether to pay a premium now or trust his walking wounded to return in time for the stretch run.
