49ers Rule Out Mike Evans for Falcons Clash as Injury List Grows
San Francisco will be without its leading receiver against Atlanta, with Nick Bosa also sidelined.

The San Francisco 49ers have ruled out wide receiver Mike Evans for Sunday's Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Friday. Evans tried to play through a rib injury and Achilles tendinitis, but he left just before halftime of last week's game against Washington after catching three passes for 94 yards, and the 49ers have decided to shut him down for this week. It will be the first game Evans misses with San Francisco. Through the first six weeks he led the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards, with 27 catches for 420 yards, and his absence removes the offense's most reliable downfield option. He is not alone on the sideline: defensive end Nick Bosa is also out as he nurses a calf strain, having already missed time since hurting it in practice before Week 3, while wide receiver Deebo Samuel is out with a hamstring injury. The Falcons game therefore becomes a test of San Francisco's depth at exactly the wrong time, with the bye week still to come offering a natural point for Evans and Bosa to recover. For now, the 49ers must find production elsewhere against an Atlanta side dealing with its own lengthy injury list.
