"100 Per Cent": Fils Confirms He Will Play the Paris Masters After Basel Injury Scare
Arthur Fils has confirmed he will play the Rolex Paris Masters, ending the uncertainty that followed his retirement from the Basel quarter-finals.

Arthur Fils has confirmed he will play the Rolex Paris Masters, ending the uncertainty that followed his retirement from the Basel quarter-finals. Asked on Sunday whether his participation depended on how he felt during his first practice session on Centre Court that afternoon, the Frenchman answered simply: "Confirmed, 100 per cent." He added that everything felt fine, his body felt good, and that after returning from Basel the same night he had undergone extensive treatment before testing himself on court.
Fils had retired from his Basel quarter-final against Taylor Fritz trailing 6-2, 2-0, later confirming the problem was a muscle issue in his left leg. The sixth seed will open his Paris campaign in the second round against wildcard Kyrian Jacquet or a qualifier. Ranked No. 8 in the world, Fils is in the thick of the battle for a place at the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin from November 15 to 22.
After a scare that briefly threatened his season finale, the Frenchman heads into the final Masters 1000 event of the year fit, confident, and with everything still to play for.
